New York, NY – Mercury Records group Parachute, whose first single “She Is Love” is in its second month of digital release, will kick off a new round of tour dates over the first weekend of spring at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music & Media Conference in Austin, Texas. Shows are scheduled through April and May, including dates with O.A.R. – leading up to the May release of Parachute’s debut album on Mercury. (Please see tour itinerary below.)
On May 30th, Parachute will perform “She Is Love” on the CBS Early Show. As fans began to recognize the song from the latest tv commercials for Nivea Body’s Smooth Sensations, the track took a 133% jump in sales last week. Fans first heard “She Is Love” when Parachute kicked off the annual six-hour New Year’s Eve celebration at Times Square in New York City with a live performance.
Also this month, Parachute has been selected as an “Adult Artist To Watch” at the Clear Channel New! site, which is live for the month of March. The video clip for “She Is Love” can be seen at the band’s MySpace website.
Straight outta Charlottesville, Virginia, in the shade of the Blue Ridge Mountains, comes Parachute – Will Anderson (guitars, piano, lead vocals), Kit French (saxophone, keyboards, vocals), Alex Hargrave (bass), Johnny Stubblefield (drums), and Nate McFarland (lead guitar, vocals). Formerly known as Sparky’s Flaw, they began playing together in high school and later on as students at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. They signed with Charlottesville, VA based Red Light Management and won a loyal grass roots following as they played over 200 shows along the east coast last year alone.
