Dynasty Electric Heats Up New York City

(New York, NY) – “Burning” is the incendiary new release from Brooklyn indie electro-rockers Dynasty Electric (DE). To be released on April 29, the EP features six tracks of DE’s unique brand of psychedelic electro-rock. Comprised of Jennifer DeVeau (vocals/theremin/ synth) and Seth Misterka (guitar/saxophone/synth/programing), DE has been described as “Blondie on acid” and compared to girl-fronted groups such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Goldfrapp, with an electronic psychedelic edge alla MGMT.
After a chance encounter and a date mishap at an East Village New York bar, Seth Misterka and Jennifer DeVeau clicked immediately and later formed the musical duo in 2004. They’ve since produced their critically acclaimed debut album Black Box (2004/05), which propelled them to their worldwide tour across the US, Canada and eventually Japan and Taiwan. Time Out New York says, “…this group puts difficult sounds through the wringer and comes out with something quite palatable, if mysterious and hypnotic.” And New York Press writes, “It’s to their credit that they can make such mesmerizing music without resorting to smoke and mirrors that plague most synth-driven bands.”
The Burning EP was partly inspired by the group’s experience at the Burning Man Festival, the notorious annual counter-cultural arts festival held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Says Misterka about the Festival, “We were exposed to some really amazing ideas, people, and technologically advanced art, lighting, and music. We were just meditating, playing music, and partying for a week in this surrealistic outer space desert environment…I heard the groove for the song ‘Burning’ on the drive back from the desert”.
With their deft synthesis of electronica, rock, punk psychedelic and pop, Dynasty Electric has crafted a unique, highly listenable and edgy EP. The duo will also premiere their new music video “Closer to Contact” at their April 29th release party.
