(LOS ANGELES, CA) – Flogging Molly recently celebrated an accomplishment that most musicians only dream of – the receipt of their first Gold Record. After ten years of touring and an amazing fan base that grows each week, the band’s 2002 release “Drunken Lullabies” cruised past the 500,000 unit mark earlier this month, and was officially certified gold by the RIAA.
Flogging Molly have spent the last year and a half touring in support of their 2008 full-length Float, which was called “one of the most important CDs of the year, if not the decade” by Alternative Press and landed at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, fueled by the singles “Float” and “Requiem For A Dying Song.”
Drawing on the hardships and joys of their own lives and a musical history ranging from old world Celtic to modern day punk rock, the seven members of Flogging Molly do it with a charm and an ease that makes them one of the most accessible bands performing today. “We’re not a traditional band,” explains Dublin born singer/songwriter, Dave King. “We are influenced by traditional music and inspired by it, and we put our own little twist on it.”
Flogging Molly recently announced a series of West Coast dates that will take place in September, in support of their current CD “Float”. The tour will include two legendary plays at venues the band is extremely proud to add to their touring history: Red Rocks in Denver, CO and the Greek Theater in their hometown of Los Angeles, CA.
