Review:
Recorded live at the Southpaw in Brooklyn, New York in December 2008, Lost At Sea marks The Squirrel Nut Zippers’ return after a nine year break. The album includes some of their strongest material, including “Hell,” Danny Diamond,” “Put A Lid On It,” “Bad Businessman,” “Blue Angel” and more.
The energy and musical wit of the Zippers really comes through on this record. You can hear the tremendous chemistry of the band and the fun they have playing in front of a receptive crowd. That mix translates into an awesome recorded performance. It’s easy to close you eyes and picture yourself as a participant in the show.
Lost At Sea thoroughly whets the appetite for more Zippers music, but we’ll have to wait until 2010 for new material, when the Zippers hope to release a new studio album. It can’t come soon enough.
