Review:
The music on The Echo Falls’ new album is part folk rock, part indie, with a healthy dose of blues and country mixed in. The band includes guitarist/vocalist Alex Mandel, drummer Dave Brandt, and bassist David Arend.
The band draws from a variety of influences. “Road to Parnassus” might sound like something you’d get if Neil Young covered a Beatles song. The songs “Humming Bird” and “You Still Have It All” have a strong Cat Stevens vibe, while “Every Second Thought” sounds a bit like R.E.M..
This San Francisco Bay Area trio has put together a collection of well-crafted tunes that will certainly garner The Echo Falls some well deserved accolades. Mandel’s unique vocals backed by solid musicianship and songwriting give The Echo Falls a sound that can be best described as timeless.
