(New York, NY) – KORN’s boycott of BP has started a ground swell of like-minded musicians intent on making a statement against the devastation in The Gulf caused by BP’s record setting oil spill. The following top touring artists have joined the cause and have committed to avoid the use of fuel sold by BP or its affiliates on their upcoming tours for 2010: Disturbed, Lady Gaga, Rise Against, Godsmack, Backstreet Boys, Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Slightly Stoopid, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Black Label Society with Zakk Wylde, Anthrax, Creed, Filter, Hellyeah and Flogging Molly.

“This is the worst thing that has ever happened to the environment in U.S. history. From everything we’re hearing about now, it’s become clear that BP cut corners to put profit ahead of safety. The message we are sending should tell all the oil companies to spend the money and take the necessary precautions to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” said Jonathon Davis of KORN. “I’m really proud that this many artists have already come on board, and I hope more will join soon.”

First estimates show close to 100 vehicles, trucks and buses from the committed artists will be involved in the boycott this summer. The number is continuously growing, resulting in tours all across North America refusing to fill up with BP products. More touring artists and people throughout the continent are uniting in boycotts against BP as a result of the catastrophic oil spill.

Some summer festival tours like The Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival are already known for using biofuels. However, the entire festival, comprised of twelve bands, will promise to not purchase their biofuels from BP or any of their affiliates. Tour creator Kevin Lyman agrees, stating “We have so many friends that are now affected by this spill that unless BP spends whatever is needed their livelihoods are lost forever. To that end we are encouraging everyone we deal with to find alternative ways to get down the road this summer.”

Jordin Sparks: It was great, as it always is when I go on Idol. It’s definitely like a reunion seeing all the crew and people who work so hard to make the show what it is. But being up there with all of the other winners and past contestants was amazing. It was very bittersweet because it was a blast to sing with everyone, but with Simon leaving we all felt a little sad.

T3M: Which of the former winners (or contestants) were you most excited to meet and sing with?

JS: Well, I’ve met all of them so I was excited to sing with them all. I just wanted to see who was going to win!

T3M: What is your fondest memory of Simon?

JS: Fondest memory? Probably backstage when I saw him and I wished him luck and he said the same.

T3M: What are you most excited about on your current first headlining tour?

JS: The fact that I now ‘run the show’ so to speak. I’m getting used to the fact that I have openers. Because I was just in the position. It’s so fun though! Now I have an hour to sing my heart out instead of 15-20 minutes.

T3M: What about headlining makes you nervous (if anything)?

JS: The fact that most of the people coming are now there to really see me. Instead of warming up the audience, I’m the main act. I definitely have to bring my ‘A’ game no matter what. Rain or shine. Sinus trouble or sickness. The show must go on!

T3M: In conjunction with Mike and Ike, the tour is sponsored by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. What does this charity mean to you?

JS: I’ve been affected by cancer personally within my friends and family. I’ve met and spoke with a few girls through Make A Wish who had cancer, that were either my age or younger than me, who didn’t have much time. No child should have to go through that. With Mike and Ike it also shows you can make a difference in the smallest way. Just by buying a box of the lemonade blends, you’re making a donation to find a cure. As well as learning about the story of Alex, where everything started for her with a cup of lemonade.

T3M: Also, please tell us about your involvement with the X The TXT campaign.

JS: In many states there are laws against being on your phone while driving. You’re supposed to be ‘hands free’. If you’re texting, that’s definitely not the case. Texting while driving is the equivalent to drinking four beers and getting behind the wheel. To be that distracted… who would want to risk their lives like that for a message that can wait? I got involved last year with my Mom to show that it effects not only my generation but others as well. The campaign went so well, that we teamed up again and now they’re with me on tour. There’s a booth where my fans can take the pledge and put their thumbprint on the banner. It’s really cool. People can also take it at Facbook.Com/thumbsuppledge.

T3M: In August you will begin to play Nina Rosario in the Broadway show “In The Heights.” Have you performed in musicals in the past?

JS: I did before Idol. I did a lot of community theatre and drama club in school. I absolutely loved it. But Broadway is a whole different animal!

T3M: What will be the greatest challenge and the greatest reward in your role in the musical?

JS: The difference with Broadway and touring is, on tour, I can change up the songs, start them over, change the key and do whatever I want. In the show I have to stay true to the character and sing the songs how Nina would sing them. Key, rhythm and everything. Also eight shows a week is gonna take some getting used to, but I’m up for the challenge. As far as the reward goes, I’m excited to do something I’m familiar with but it’s going to be really foreign as well. I hope that I can take the role of Nina and do the best that I can, while staying true to the character, but putting me in there too. I’m also going to be living on my own for the first time so not only is it a new direction in my career but in my life as well.

Selene Vigil-Wilk, best known as the riveting front woman for acclaimed Seattle indie band 7 Year Bitch, will make her solo debut with That Was Then, due out September 14th. She’ll release the album on indie label, Tuck and Roll Music. That Was Then marks her first release since 7 Year Bitch disbanded in the late 1990′s.

“The time and space was necessary for me to see the songs for what they were and to really understand what I felt about them,” says Vigil-Wilk. “Sometimes time itself makes you see things in a different perspective… ”

“What are you waiting for?” she sings against a slow, sinuous bass line in “Shining Armor.” “a good reason · a change of season · some undivided attention · a method of creation · it just appeared · and settled here · what are you waiting for?”While the song examines the creative process, it does so in a broad sense – ruminating on all the preparation that goes into becoming ourselves. It’s a bold song of empowerment, as she arms herself for fighting “the beast within.”

As the title implies, That Was Then finds Vigil-Wilk both looking back and looking forward. “I Brought The Rain with Me,” the in-your-face lead-off track, takes its title from a pivotal time in her life – when she moved from Seattle to Los Angeles to join Brad Wilk, drummer for Rage Against the Machine, whom she later married. The rains were torrential in Southern California that winter, prompting his comment that she’d brought the rain with her. The innocent remark provided a jumping-off point for the song, which is a blistering commentary on a society where “money keeps you innocent and killer, killers walk free.”

Vigil-Wilk has never been afraid to speak her mind and it’s that fearless quality that makes That Was Then such a spine-tingling rollercoaster ride, dipping and swerving unexpectedly as she gives voice to the feelings that most of us carefully hide with a poetic, avant-garde sensibility reminiscent of Patti Smith.

The arrangements are equally adventurous – “Soak” sneaks up on you, as a lone violin melds into eerie electronica and erupts into an exuberant chorus of overdubbed vocals. “On A Limb” has an old soul – with guitar and banjo at the forefront, it puts a modern spin on the ancient folk music of gypsies and troubadours – while the jagged “Odds End,” an anthem for those at the fringes, evokes early Jane’s Addiction. Vigil-Wilk created That Was Then with Matt Sherrod (NOFX, Macy Gray).

Formed in 1990, 7 Year Bitch was known for its heavy, abrasive, yet melodic punk-inspired sound, issuing a string of independent releases, including the full-length Sick ‘Em (1992) and ¡Viva Zapata! (1994). The band also appeared on a compilation to benefit Home Alive, an organization founded after the violent death of The Gits’ Mia Zapata, a longtime friend of the band. 7 Year Bitch signed with Atlantic Records, releasing Gato Negro in 1996 and toured extensively thereafter. The group appeared in several films – Mad Love, Toast of the Gods and Hype! – and Selene had a lead role in “The Year of My Japanese Cousin,” an indie film.

While on hiatus from the music business, Selene co-founded a beverage company with her husband. After Brad was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, they were unable to find an all-natural, sugar-free drink, so Brad began formulating their own. Olade™ is an organic juice beverage fortified with electrolytes and sweetened with Stevia, a plant in the sunflower family.

The magazine is the only U.S.-based publication green-lit to feature a behind-the-scenes glimpse in to the recording sessions of Volbeat’s fourth studio album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven (Vertigo/Universal Germany) coming this Fall in Europe and early 2011 in the United States. That article will run in the July / August issue of Revolver on-sale June 22. Singer Michael Poulsen shared, “Revolver has been there for Volbeat since we began coming over to North America. We are thankful for their continued interest, and the support of their readers, many of which are our most vocal fans. We look forward to seeing you this summer.”

Since the Danish metal quartet’s formation in October, 2001, VOLBEAT has steadily risen to become one of the major attractions in the European scene. In an age of retreads, the band has been offering a unique blend of metallic hard rock alongside inspired Elvis-tinged melodies, and the world has taken notice. They recently entered in to a licensing agreement with Vertigo/Universal Germany, following significant success with Netherlands-based independent label Mascot Records. All three of the band’s prior releases from Mascot Records have been certified gold in Denmark, while Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood (2008) and Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil (2007) achieved platinum sales. Over the past year, Volbeat has toured in both North America and Europe with Metallica, and currently are booked for an extensive festival and headline run overseas. Volbeat is Michael Poulsen (Vocals / Guitar), Anders Kjølholm (Bass), Jon Larsen (Drums) and Thomas Bredahl (Guitar). On February 16, the long-form double DVD set LIVE: SOLD-OUT! was released in North America by Mascot Records.

DOMMIN is the opening act on all dates. THE SLEEPING are direct support 8/13-20. Direct support for the West Coast dates is not yet confirmed.

(New York, NY) – Universal Republic rockers Anberlin will release their much-buzzed about fifth studio album, Dark Is The Way, Light is a Place,on September 21st. The band recorded it at Nashville’s renowned Blackbird Studio with Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine), who won the GRAMMY® award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical earlier this year. “Impossible” – the driving lead single that soars with an exhilarating pop Foo Fighters vibe as it captures love’s tug of war – will go to radio in mid-July. “We Owe This To Ourselves,” another track from Dark Is The Way, Light is a Place, will be the main song used on ESPN’s X-Games this summer.

The forthcoming record follows Anberlin’s New Surrender, which was the band’s second album to debut in the Top 20 of The Billboard 200. “Feel Good Drag,” New Surrender‘s first single, hit No. 1 on the Modern Rock charts and now holds the record as the longest-charting single in Modern Rock history. Named 2009′s “Rock Song of the Year” by FMQB, it will be a featured song on the in-store version of “Guitar Hero 6,” due out this September. Anberlin’s cover of New Order’s “True Faith” appeared on the subsequently released deluxe version of New Surrender and was tapped for the season finale of The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.” Anberlin, which formed in Winter Haven, FL in 2002, has sold over 700,000 albums and toured the world, sharing stages with American Rejects, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore and many others.

Dark Is The Way, Light is a Place – which takes its title from a line in Dylan Thomas’ “Poem On His Birthday” – examines the battle implicit in life and in love. “Love is a friction, a chemistry,” says Anberlin’s front man, Stephen Christian. “We need to fight it out in a good way, not with threats of leaving, but to, in love, find an understanding.”

If such an understanding isn’t reached, the consequences can be shattering, as detailed in the hypnotic “The Art of War,” which veers from slow burn to full sonic assault and the heart wrenching “Take Me As You Found Me.”The cathartic “To The Wolves”tackles betrayal head-on while in the gentle, acoustic “Down,” the protagonist puts the blame squarely on himself (“feel like a shell of yesteryear gone by/bad decisions like ghosts that just won’t die”). The way may be dark, but a powerful vision of light permeates the album. The anthemic “We Owe This To Ourselves” is a resounding call to action: “we owe this to ourselves/to fight, to lead/we owe this to ourselves/we just can’t let this go.” This deeply rooted conviction speaks not only to Anberlin’s view of romantic love, but also to the band’s belief that we’re accountable for our relationship with the world at large.

To that end, Anberlin has been involved in numerous humanitarian efforts. They’ve spent time in Africa, working with a local charity to meet the needs of a small community, and traveled to Calcutta, India with Faceless International, where they helped to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking. Co-founded by Stephen Christian (lead singer), Faceless International aims to defend the plight of exploited people worldwide who have gone faceless and unknown for far too long. The organization raises awareness about social issues happening throughout the global community, providing first hand experience and education through trips around the world and solution-based opportunities through regional resources.

Anberlin is:

Stephen Christian: Vocals
Joseph Milligan: Lead guitar
Devon Rexroat: Bass
Christian McAlhaney: Rhythm guitar
Nathan Young: Drums

The track listing for Dark Is The Way, Light is a Place is as follows:

1. We Owe This To Ourselves
2. Impossible
3. Take Me As You Found Me
4. Closer
5. You Belong To Me
6. Pray Tell
7. The Art Of War
8. To The Wolves
9. Down
10. Depraved

Deer Tick will make its network television debut tonight (Weds. June 16) on Late Night with David Letterman. Its third album, The Black Dirt Sessions, was just released last Tuesday and reached the #1 sales ranking on Amazon.

About The Black Dirt Sessions

Recorded late last year at Black Dirt Studios in upstate New York, The Black Dirt Sessions is a deeply personal record from Deer Tick and most especially from lead vocalist and songwriter John McCauley. It is the sound of a band coming into its own, finding its voice and pouring its collective heart out. The comparisons that have often been thrust upon McCauley by the press seem to fall away as his own voice comes through more clearly. On songs like “Goodbye, Dear Friend” and “Christ Jesus” which find McCauley alone at the piano, about as naked as you can possibly get on record. The Black Dirt version of “Christ Jesus,” which also appeared on War Elephant, manages to be even more devastating than the original.

Clearly, the band is exploring some darker material here (like death, mortality, the existence of God) than they’ve touched on in the past, and it suits them. Even as the Deer Tick live show has become legendary for its raucous, spontaneous moments, this record serves as proof of the band’s incredible musicianship, cohesive nature and most importantly gives us a chance to witness McCauley becoming a fully formed, mature songwriter right in front of our eyes (or ears).

(New York, NY) – Virgin Records Saving Abel have achieved another milestone in their notable career. The quintet’s follow up to their gold-certified self-titled debut MISS AMERICA has entered the Billboard album chart at 24. This is the highest position the band has held with any album on the Top 200. Released June 8, 2010, MISS AMERICA and the band’s presence in the marketplace, has been delivered a level of critical mass that documents the arrival of Saving Abel. The lead single “Stupid Girl (Only In Hollywood)” is flying up the rock charts, currently bulleted at 12, while the accompanying video is in rotation on MTV2. Last week the band announced plans for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) on August 2.

New York, NY: Legendary rock icon Steve Miller will celebrate the release of the highly anticipated new album BINGO! by sharing the stage with longtime friend Kenny Chesney on CMT’s hit show CROSSROADS. Performing each other’s songs and sharing stories on the popular series, the two icons filmed the show in Nashville at the historic Ryman Auditorium. The show will air Friday, July 9th at 10pm/9pm central. Songs featured in the hour long episode will include Miller’s classics such as “The Joker” and “Abracadabra,” as well as “You Got Me Dizzy” from the new album BINGO! The performance will also include Chesney hits “Living In Fast Forward and “I Go Back.”

“From the first time Kenny invited me to play with him in San Francisco at AT&T Park, until this minute he has been a refreshing and wonderful friend,” Miller said. “I love the way he conducts himself, treats his band, crew, fans, and friends. Artists this busy barely have time for saying hello, yet Kenny takes the time to get to know you and shares himself. That is a very rare and endearing quality. He is a great performer, a great writer, and a great guy to roll with. He’s the real deal.”

Fans can also expect to see Miller on NBC’s Weekend TODAY Show as the show follows the band on their U.S. tour. Miller will show anchor Lester Holt the rules of the road and they will chat about his new album. The Today Show will also get to see an exciting new set design by acclaimed Broadway director Rob Roth.

Released on Miller’s new label Space Cowboy Records in partnership with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records, BINGO! is in stores now. BINGO! was recorded at film producer George Lucas’ infamous studios at Skywalker Ranch. A true return to Miller’s roots, BINGO! echoes his early years in the Chicago music scene and features carefully chosen and crafted tracks performed in distinctive Steve Miller Band fashion.

Rolling Stone magazine calls BINGO! “a return to his blues roots with the slick party pop vibe of his classics The Joker and Fly Like an Eagle.” Miller is also gracing the covers of Guitar Player and Vintage Guitar magazines talking about BINGO! and the upcoming summer tour. He also showcases his new set and extensive guitar collection. Fans can hear Steve Miller discuss his new album on syndicated radio specials, Rockline, Nights With Alice Cooper, Greg Kihn and In The Studio.

The album is co-produced by Miller and engineer Andy Johns (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix). The sessions introduced new band member Sonny Charles, a veteran vocalist of the Checkmates, who will join Miller on the road this summer. These were the final sessions by harmonica player and vocalist Norton Buffalo, Miller’s “partner in harmony” for 33 years, who died of cancer in October 2009.

BINGO! will be released in 2 formats: a 10-track digipack CD and a special edition with 4 bonus tracks and expanded artwork. The album’s artwork is a creation by the legendary Storm Thorgerson, whose album packages for Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd are the gold standard in artistic design. The album is a fully realized mature work of a master craftsman. In a sense, BINGO! is the album Steve Miller has been waiting all his life to make.

Having sold more than 30 million records, The Steve Miller Band’s trademark sound is a mainstay of rock radio. His yearly summer tour extravaganza has become an anticipated annual event for millions of rock fans playing 60 or more shows every year. He is the Gangster of Love. Some people call him Maurice, the Midnight Toker or the Space Cowboy. And with BINGO!, a masterpiece album by one of the greats, Steve Miller shows he still speaks of the “pompitus” of love.
