The video was shot in Nashville and directed by Ryan Smith (Eminem, Duran Duran, Good Charlotte, Gavin Degraw, Cypress Hill, Shinedown). The track, which is the first single from their fifth studio album, Time of My Life (Universal Republic), debuted at #1 on the iTunes Rock singles chart and is currently climbing the Active Rock, Mainstream Rock and Alternative charts.

“This video symbolizes the struggles that we face as we fight to make our way through the seemingly narrow passages of our lives,” said Arnold. “It reflects our fight and our vulnerability. Ryan Smith and his team have done a wonderful job bringing the song to life through this edgy, cinematic delivery. I hope that everyone can see themselves, in some way within the characters of this video.”

“When You’re Young” has a powerful message that is reflected in the chorus, “Trapped inside a place that they won’t take you/ They want you to be what they make you/ It’s already over and done/ When you’re young.” The song was produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, Flyleaf, Hoobastank, Three Days Grace) and recorded in Los Angeles.

The song is the first single from the band’s forthcoming and fifth studio album, Time of My Life due out this Spring on Universal Republic. Produced by Howard Benson (Creed, Daughtry, Flyleaf, Hoobastank, Three Days Grace) and recorded in Los Angeles. The track debuted at #25 at Active Rock, has climbed to #19 and is #1 greatest gainer in the format.

Frontman Brad Arnold describes “When You’re Young” as “almost a mockery of how easy people think it is to be young. Young people always hear, ‘This is the greatest time of your life…,’ but it’s not always that way, y’know?”  The ballad’s powerful and melancholy tone is reflected in the chorus, “Trapped inside a place that they won’t take you/ They want you to be what they make you/ It’s already over and done/ When you’re young.”
