We Have Remixes features alternative versions of tracks by inspirational producers. From Todd Edwards’ space age garage retake on “Hand Me Down Your Love” to Osborne’s lounge house version of “Take It In”; Caribou’s electro-acid fried reconstruction of “Brothers” to Hot City’s deranged rave revival attack on “We Have Love”, We Have Remixes manages to pull together a selection of the very best dancefloor manipulators in the world right now.

Hot Chip is also proud to announce the launch of an MXP4-powered interactive version of the band’s latest single, “I Feel Better”. The second release from Hot Chip’s latest album One Life Stand, “I Feel Better” is now available online as an MXP4-powered application at www.facebook.com/hotchip. 

The interactive release gives fans a video game-like experience, enabling them to play with remixes of “I Feel Better” by producers including Richard X and Den Haan. The application is fully integrated into Hot Chip’s Facebook page, creating strong fan engagement by having them interact with “I Feel Better” right on the Facebook page.

The application also features multi-media content, including the notorious “I Feel Better” video directed by comedian Peter Serafinowicz, and fans using the interactive application are also able to easily share it through blogs, Twitter, Facebook and other popular viral and social media platforms.

Indeed, Hot Chip is back with an epic hit of euphoric hands-in-the-air bliss. A House stomp that summons up the spirit of Black Box, S’Express and InnerCity’s ‘Goodlife’ and takes inspiration from the burgeoning UK Funky scene. From computer looped strings and Joe Goddard’s Auto-Tuned vocals, the track simmers away before the chorus lifts-off with enough power to blow a fuse in your speakers! It’s one of the great pop choruses of our time; clunky Chicago house synths colliding with an uplifting vocal sung by Alexis Taylor as if he’s been waiting all his life to sing it. ‘I Feel Better” is pulsing modern-day disco: an electronic punch that refuses to sacrifice any emotional complexity. In short, it’s a track that belongs in nodding heads, dancing feet and the annals of great contemporary pop music.

‘I Feel Better’ has had a phenomenal reaction on the band’s recently completed UK tour and special NY dates with the song rivaling ‘Over and Over’ and ‘Ready For The Floor’ in terms of audience reaction every night, despite having only appeared as an album track so far. From the songs “Free Energy” to “Dark Trance,” Philadephia rock band Free Energy has been hinting at their forthcoming debut full-length album since the Spring of 2009. Review:

This is one of the more interesting EPs I’ve listened to in quite a while.  The electropop outfit Hot Chip already has quite a few re-mix recordings under their belt, so their fans are accustomed to a continuing state of experimentation.  To further drive that point, they enlisted progressive rock and experimental music icon Robert Wyatt, who appears on three tracks.

This EP hits you right away with new rendition of the off-tempo song “Made In The Dark.”  The song includes the jaw harp as it’s new focus, seemingly holding equal weight with the vocals at times.  The harmonies and other instrumentation can be rather dissonant and haunting, a trait carried throughout the EP.

“One Pure Thought” is largely unrecognizable from the album version except for the vocals.  I think it’s a rather brilliant interpretation.  The first three tracks move at a very methodical pace, but this songs picks it up and creates a plucky, energetic, and chaotic sonic landscape.

I like this EP.  I think some of the remixes are superior, but only because I wasn’t too attached to the originals in the first place.  I think the changes are quite jarring, but as stated earlier, Hot Chip fans expect to be shaken up a bit.

And not only that, but they have managed to rope in the services of none other than the godfather of the experimental psych-prog world, Robert Wyatt and kindred mischievous electronic spirits Geese to help out as well.

Long recognised as one of the pioneers of avant-jazz rock (as recently as this year by Domino Records infact, who have just re released his back catalogue), from his beginnings as a member of Soft Machine and through his collaborations with Scritti Politti and Syd Barrett, Robert Wyatt brings his quietly magical touch to 3 songs personally chosen from Hot Chip’s 2008 album “Made in the Dark”. The result – as recorded at Gallery Studios earlier this year – are several mutations of songs that are as delicate and whimsical as they are adventurous and distinctive, be it the quixotic cornet and jew’s harp on “Made in the Dark”, or Wyatt’s singular vocals and whistling on “Whistle for Will”, or the lush added effects and atypical arrangements on “We’re Looking for a Lot of Love”.

Meanwhile, Hot Chip’s old friends and collaborators Geese (aka Emma and Vince from The Elysian Quartet) also lent a hand, reworking the new, Robert Wyatt- assisted “We’re Looking…” while completely overhauling “One Pure Thought” from a straight-ahead floor shaker into something stranger, dreamier, but no less lovely. All in all, a deliciously unpredictable collaboration made in quirk-pop heaven.

The EP will be available January 27 at select indie record shops (visit www.thinkindie.com to find a store near you). Fans can download 2 tracks from the EP on from HotChip.co.uk on December 19, thus providing a stimulus that is musical and financial for us all.

Lastly, congratulation is in order for Hot Chip, as they picked up their first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording for the track “Ready For The Floor.” The Annual Grammy Awards will be announced live on on Feb. 8, 2009 (8 – 11:30 p.m. ET/PT) on CBS.
