I’ve been a fan of Keller Williams for quite some time, but had yet to catch one of his live performances… until seeing his most recent show at the Theater of the Living Arts (TLA) on Philly’s famous South Street. I’ve heard fans refer to his show as the Keller Williams Experience, but until seeing it for myself I didn’t quite grasp why.

Picture the stage and the scene about to be set… imagine a local guitar shop with a wall of guitars running accross the length of the stage. A clerk’s counter to the left is topped with a cash register and an acoustic guitar lying on a glass display case filled with picks, peddles, strings and straps.

Already on stage are a variety of stringed instruments positioned perfectly and waiting to be played.  Williams comes onto the stage, shoeless and in his best comfy gear, and begins the show by laying down a vocal beat and then looping it for continuous playback. With the beat in place he picks up a guitar to add some rhythm, then proceeds to play the bass and then an electronic drum kit to add more layers to the building sound scape.  He finally adds some finishing touches while at the help of an audio control tower, and the result is a spectacular composition.

Williams’ quirky personality comes across through his music and mannerisms as he both excites and comforts the audience.  The TLA crowd, feeling right at home,  loved every moment of the show.  The Keller Williams Experience is both a music concert and a performance art piece.  Williams is a truly talented one man band.
