Gojira Announce Album Title and Release Date

(New York, NY) – French metal act Gojira, easily one of the most buzzed about and beloved extreme bands of the past five years, have revealed L’Enfant Sauvage as the title of their Roadrunner Records debut. The title translates to “The Wild Child.” The album, which features 11 tracks of mind-bending, thunderous metal, is scheduled to land at retail on June 26.

“When you become a musician, you don’t have a boss telling you what to do so you have to be very responsible,” singer/guitarist/songwriter Joe Duplantier said, shedding a little light on the title and its meaning. “With freedom comes responsibility, so I’m asking myself, ‘What is freedom? What does it mean to me?’ L’Enfant Sauvage reflects on that. There’s no answer though. There’s just life and questions.”

A special collector’s package of L’Enfant Sauvage will feature two bonus tracks and a double-colored vinyl version of the record, along with an exclusive t-shirt.

Avalanche City Roadrunner Debut EP Set for April 3rd Release

(NEW YORK, NY) – Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of New Zealand’s Avalanche City in North America. Avalanche City is the brainchild of Dave Baxter, a singer songwriter who wrote, produced, recorded and played every instrument on his debut album Our New Life Above The Ground, which was released July 8, 2011 in New Zealand. Baxter recorded the now platinum album in just one week. Avalanche City is the fastest selling debut artist in New Zealand history.

Roadrunner Records will release the four-track Love Love Love EP on April 3, 2012.

Roadrunner Records Signs Storm Corrosion

(New York, NY) – Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of Storm Corrosion.

Storm Corrosion is the long-discussed and highly anticipated collaboration between two of the modern progressive rock scene’s most innovative and multi-talented artists: Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson. The pair will release Storm Corrosion on April 24 via Roadrunner Records.

A little background information on the genesis of this project: Åkerfeldt and Wilson have been friends since the late ’90s, when Wilson co-produced Opeth’s Blackwater Park album. Over the years, they’d often spoken of working on a project together, but it wasn’t until recently that they managed to make something happen, when Mikael flew over to visit Steven in the U.K. and they ended up in Wilson’s home studio throwing ideas around. That visit was the nascence of a whole self-titled album, written and produced by the pair, and mixed by Wilson.

The sound of Storm Corrosion can best be described as enchanting, orchestral, ambient, epic (half the album’s tracks clock in around the 10-minute mark) and nothing short of surprising to the new ear. However, the musicians’ respective fan bases will be primed to appreciate the new output, with Wilson’s recent solo album, Grace for Drowning, and Opeth’s Heritage having brought them to a logical place to understand Storm Corrosion. This eponymous collection is almost viewed as one side of a musical triangle.

Says Wilson, “If you’d asked me three months ago about the music, I would have said, ‘Expect the last thing you would expect.’ But actually, now that Heritage and Grace for Drowning have come out, I don’t think it’s going to be that much of a shock to people, because it’s almost like a third part of the trilogy, in a way. If anything, it’s even more orchestral, even more stripped down, even more dark, twisted and melancholic… but it certainly feels like it comes from the same place as Heritage and Grace for Drowning, which indeed it does because it was written during the same period.”

“Some of the music on this record I think is the most beautiful music I have participated on ever,” adds Åkerfeldt. “There’s some magical sections on there. Musically I think we’ve created something earthy, a bit frightening, exhausting, profound and rather intense. All at the same time. I can safely say I don’t know any other band or artist that sounds anything like Storm Corrosion. I guess that was also one of our goals, so to speak.”

Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R, Monte Conner welcomed Storm Corrosion to the Roadrunner family, commenting, “I am honored to have the Roadrunner logo on the Storm Corrosion album. DragonForce Album Due April 17th

(New York) - London-based metal band DragonForce have revealed details of their forthcoming new album. Entitled The Power Within, this 10-track release marks the band’s fifth studio album and its first with new singer Marc Hudson behind the microphone. It will be released April 17 by Roadrunner Records in the U.S.

DragonForce guitarist Herman Li said, “The last two years have been the most fun we ever had making an album. Through writing, jamming and touring together, we have built this incredible energy and it has been fully captured on the new album.”

Li also claims the album boasts the fastest song the band has ever recorded. He continued, “This time around we’ve really brought our metal side to the surface and made some of the best music of our career. From the fastest song we’ve ever recorded to the slower songs, and some things you would never expect from us, this is by far the most diverse DragonForce album yet.”

Nickelback Streaming New Album on iTunes

(NEW YORK, NY) – Multi-platinum rock band Nickelback will be releasing Here and Now November 21, 2011 on Roadrunner Records, a Warner Music Group label, but fans can stream the full album free exclusively on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com/Nickelback) starting today for the week leading up to the release date.

As a testament to Nickelback’s rare versatility in achieving multiple successes at various radio formats for more than a decade, Roadrunner Records released two singles simultaneously - “When We Stand Together” and “Bottoms Up.” Both are climbing the charts with “When We Stand Together” at # 13 on the Hot AC chart while “Bottoms Up” is currently in the #2 spot on the Rock chart.

Gojira Signs to Roadrunner Records

(New York, NY) – Roadrunner Records announced today the addition of French metal behemoths Gojira to the label. The band is universally recognized as one of the most talented and extreme art-metal acts on the scene today. Gojira is one of those rare bands that comes along every couple of years and takes everything you know about metal, twists it, re-imagines it and comes up with something wholly unique. It’s doubtful you’ve heard anything like Gojira before. The band makes that much of an impact with its music and approach.

Gojira are comprised of vocalist/guitarist Joe Duplantier, who has a previous relationship with Roadrunner, having played bass on Cavalera Conspiracy’s debut Inflikted, along with guitarist Christian Andreu, bassist Jean-Michel Labadie and drummer Mario Duplantier, who is also Joe’s brother!

“We are so stoked to walk with the legendary Roadrunner,” Joe said about the new partnership. “We discovered Sepultura, Machine Head, Death, Fear Factory and so many other great bands thanks to these guys. Roadrunner has been a great source of inspiration for us as metal fans. It’s an honor to be part of this family today as a band. We feel we’ll get the right support at the right moment in our career. We cannot wait to release our new record and get back on the road.”

The band’s Roadrunner debut will be its fifth album overall. It was 2005′s From Mars to Sirius and 2008′s The Way of All Flesh which established Gojira as a metal force of nature and a key player in the scene. The band will record in New York City, also the label’s headquarters, in November 2011, with a spring 2012 release date being eyed. Joe Duplantier will serve in a co-producer capacity along Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God).

“I’ve been a huge Gojira fan ever since their monumental From Mars to Sirius album and have been actively pursuing them ever since,” Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner said. “I am thrilled to finally be welcoming them to the Roadrunner family. Gojira are one of the best bands in metal today, with a sound and style all their own. Their live shows are unreal, from the level of playing, to the intensity, to the Godzilla like stomp that hits you in the chest.”

Gojira have kept busy in between albums. They recently recorded the four-song Sea Shepherd EP, with all proceeds from the EP benefiting the Sea Shepherd charity. Sea Shepherd is a Washington-state based non-profit marine conservation organization which employs direct action tactics to protect sea life. One of the songs, “Blood And Salt,” recently surfaced on a Metal Hammer UK sampler CD. Release details on that EP, which is loaded with A-list metal guests like Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe, Soulfly’s Max Cavalera and Strapping Young Lad’s Devin Townsend to name a few, are yet to be determined.

In other Gojira news, the band will perform as part of Australia’s Soundwave Festival, which is slated for February 2012.

The Amity Affliction Sign to Roadrunner Records

(New York, NY) - Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of The Amity Affliction, easily one of the most head-turning and exciting hard rock bands to come barreling out of Australia. The band has scorched a trail Down Under and is now poised to stake its claim in the U.S. Roadrunner will release Youngbloods digitally on Oct. 25 and the band will head back into the studio in early 2012 to record the follow up with Youngbloods producer Machine (Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Suicide Silence.)

The Amity Affliction’s humble origins date back six years ago in a small town in Queensland, Australia. With an industrial sized bucket of elbow grease, the band became a fixture on the local touring circuit. The Amity Affliction quickly ascended the ranks and became one of the best-loved bands in Oz. Armed with cheeky song titles, a party attitude and the type of aggressive and forward- thinking metal that will simultaneously make you think while putting hair on your chest, The Amity Affliction deliver a poignant message encased in mosh-worthy anthems.

“Ever since I can remember in Amity we’ve been dreaming big: big tours, big shows, big crowds, but never in our wildest dreams did we ever think something this big would come around,” frontman Joel Birch said. “Signing to Roadrunner worldwide is almost beyond a dream come true, because there’s no way any of us would have ever dreamed of being able to achieve something this monumental.”

The Parlor Mob Set to Release Sophomore Album on October 11

Rush Signs to Roadrunner Records

(NEW YORK, NY) – Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce a new worldwide partnership with Anthem Records and rock trio Rush. The band will remain on Anthem/Universal Music in Canada only.

“We have tremendous respect for Roadrunner Records and what Cees Wessels and Jonas Nachsin have built on a worldwide level. After years of Roadrunner pursuing the band, Tom Lipsky presented a deal that worked and the timing was right. We wanted to be at a label focused on the rock genre — and that’s Roadrunner,” said Ray Danniels, manager of Rush.

“In another life I worked with Rush and their great management team more than 30 years ago and to have Rush finally on the Roadrunner label is a dream come true. I am grateful for Ray Danniels’ confidence in this new partnership,” said Cees Wessels, Roadrunner Records Chairman.

“Rush has a tradition of excellence and independence, both in the studio and on the live stage, and they remain as prolific today as at any point in their career. We are excited to be their label partners,” said Tom Lipsky, President of Lipsky Music, LLC, who brokered the significant deal for Roadrunner.

The first release from Rush through this deal will be various live configurations recorded during their highly successful Time Machine tour that wrapped earlier this summer. Details of the release will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Megadeth to Release Thirteenth Album on November 1st

(New York, NY) - MEGADETH, easily one of the most recognized and culturally significant names in hard rock music for the past three decades, are pleased to announce the forthcoming release of their thirteenth album, titled TH1RT3EN. The album will be released November 1, 2011 via Roadrunner Records. TH1RT3EN follows up 2009′s Endgame, which was one of the most celebrated albums of the pioneering band’s storied career. Anticipation is high and fans are anxious for a taste of new music from the legends, who have sold over 25 million albums globally throughout the course of their career, and they will get it imminently.

DAVE MUSTAINE is incredibly proud of the music put forth on the new recording, saying, “This record is the culmination of my work over the 13 records I recorded. There are moments on TH1RT3EN that capture my every emotion, and other moments where I am releasing feelings I never knew existed! My proudest moments of my musical career are captured on TH1RT3EN.”

TH1RT3EN also marks the recorded return of bassist Dave Ellefson who was part of the band’s classic lineup from 1983 to 2002. In a move that delighted the band’s legion of diehards, Ellefson returned to performing live with Megadeth in early 2010 and has remained a fixture on the stage ever since. This is the first time Ellefson has played on a Megadeth record since 2002′s Rude Awakening.

The title has several levels of meaning, which leader and guitar deity DAVE MUSTAINE, who first picked up an axe at the age of 13, revealed in a recent chat with RollingStone.com, saying, “I was born on September 13th; this is my thirteenth record. It just seemed like it was the right thing to do to call it TH1RT3EN.”

The band is spending its summer dominating and decimating the main stage of the fourth annual Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival alongside Godsmack and Disturbed. The band will cap off a busy and headline-making summer by performing as part of “The Big 4″ once again, this time in New York at Yankee Stadium alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. The only previous “Big 4″ show in the U.S. took place in April in Southern California.

The band also recorded an original track, “Never Dead,” specifically for the NeverDead action-adventure video game franchise. “Never Dead” will appear on TH1RT3EN. Additionally, “Sudden Death” was recorded for Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock and will appear on the album.

With nine Grammy nominations under their bullet belts and having enjoyed five consecutive Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications, as well as seven Gold certifications during their career, MEGADETH need no introduction. They’ve essentially written the book on heavy metal and hard rock, gaining momentum with each critically lauded release. In 2010, MUSTAINE released his first book, Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir, which hit the New York Times bestseller list in hardcover (and is now being re-released in paperback).
